India vs England – Stats to Takeaway!

Last night, the much vaunted series between India and England finally came to an end, with it’s fair share of controversies, the most prominent one being the concussion sub with Dube and Harshit Rana!

India eventually won the series 4-1, courtesy a brilliant knock from Abhishek Sharma, who broke multiple records en route to his masterly 135! Here is a look back into the most major stats from this, now concluded series!

279 – The number of runs made by Abhishek Sharma in this series against England, the second highest by an Indian in a bilateral series, with Tilak Varma‘s 280 runs against South Africa late in 2024 leading the charts.

219.68 – Abhishek Sharma’s strike rate in this series, the highest by an Indian in a bilateral series with a minimum of 150 runs, eclipsing the previous best of 213.15 by Rohit Sharma against Sri Lanka.

29 – The most wickets taken by Indian spinners in a bilateral series, they averaged 14.2 and went at 7.62 runs an over.

14 – Wickets taken by Varun Chakravarthy for India against England, the most by an Indian spinner in a bilateral series and the most by an Indian bowler overall, and the joint second-most in history in a T20I bilateral series.

46 – The most wickets taken by India in a bilateral series, beating their previous best of 38 wickets against Zimbabwe in 2024.

29 – The most wickets taken by English Pacers in a five match T20I series at an average of 22.75 and economy of 9.54 and the second most overall.

135 – The highest individual T20I score made by an Indian batter, achieved by Abhishek Sharma and only the third T20I hundred by an Indian to strike at 250 or more.

37 – Balls taken by Abhishek Sharma, the second fastest T20I hundred for India, behind Rohit Sharma’s 35 ball ton against Sri Lanka in 2017.

13 – Sixes hit by Abhishek Sharma in his innings of 135, the most by an Indian batter in an innings, going past Rohit Sharma’s effort of 10 sixes against Sri Lanka in 2017.

150 – The largest margin of defeat for England, going past their previous all time low of a defeat of 90 runs, also against England in 2012.
